The Noun Project

Got shown this awesome site on the weekend. It has all different, internationally recognised images for ‘nouns’. They are also legally free to use on any design! Might be good for trying to plan branding and business cards?

Like the simplicity, but how they have also still used images in the cards. As they are still rectangular keeps the costs lower than a “shape” business card.

I think that this set of work works really well as a branding package. Its a bit less complex to the more ‘fancy’ business cards I posted before, but I do like the really cohesive look that it gives. Something like this could be a really effective, and still relatively chepa way of doing my business card and any branding I may want to match up with it…..

Business Cards:

  • I am not happy with the origonal business card I started designing in class (is needed for part of my fashion portfolio).
  • I was interested in maybe using something a little bit fun and quirky, to help my brand image…. like how in these images above the card takes on either the physical requirements of what its advertising (e.g. photography and camera), or part of the brand personality (e.g. card in the mock denim jeans)

Business cards are such a boring thing to hand to people. I like the creative approach to making it more memorable. If a metal card with laser etching in it wasn’t so expensive I would have thousands of them.

I just found this shoot from a brisbane photographer. I think it really suits my concept of augmented reality quite well, but in a more dark and moody sort of context. I really like the way that they have managed to make fashion photography not look like its fashion photography. Could be interesting to play with for final collection next year at uni as well……

It’s in my blood

I recently did a photoshoot with Sigrid Sagorski and Campbell Irvine.

Sigrid’s concept was really interesting and a lot of fun to style for.

The series is capturing the idea that someone is so consumed by fashion it becomes their religion and obsession almost like a cult..

Here are some of the images

Photographer and concept- Sigrid Sagorski

Stylist and MUA- Alana Ferguson

Model- Campbell of Mirror Mirror Agencies

I think that this is just a little bit amazing…..and I totally need them!!! Might be a fun project to try and do in the holidays? :)

Idea for backgrounds…. I just used a photo I took in new york, grey scaled it, and then played with the colours. Not sure Im happy with the results? Might do even one copy with back ground and one white. Will see how it looks after keep drawing on it :)

I am much, much happier with how this version of my drawing for my portfolio is working. I started using my drawing tablet, which has been SOOOO much neater than the weekends attempt! :)
